So many of us only really live in the cracks of our workday. Summer feels like one of the last remaining spaces where we give ourselves permission to rest, play, explore, be curious, and actually live. To remember nature exists - and that we are a part of it.
And women, who are so often the emotional backbone of our homes, relationships, and communities, need that return to self perhaps more than anyone.
Ruth Lastra (Buenos Aires, 1985) is a textile artist based in Buenos Aires who constructs dreamlike escapes where women rest and reconnect with their bodies and nature.
Originally working as an architect, Lastra is fascinated by the way our surroundings silently transform and condition us-how architecture can hold the sky, contain the water, and frame the sun. Through arches and columns that feel at once classical and futuristic, she creates imagined worlds where she herself would like…
